Mint Royale: Singin’ in the Rain

Mint Royale: See You in the Morning Cover ArtOn August 15th Mint Royale will drop their new album, See You in the Morning. The entire album sounds fantastic, but the one track that I can guarantee will hit the radio hard will be their rendition of Singin’ in the Rain, as performed by Gene Kelly in the 1952 film of the same name, also fantastic. If you haven’t seen the European commerical for the redesigned Golf, they paired this track with dancers (including David Bernal aka Elsewhere) to create what looked like Gene Kelly popping down the street in the rain and getting his first glimpse of the new Golf.

Interestingly enough, European and Australian playlists show track 5 (what we will see as Singin’ in the Rain) as “Happy” (or “Harpy”, depending on which web site you visit — Exhibit A | Exhibit B)

I was really lucky, however, to see what is essentially the music video for this track; it’s incredible. If you didn’t want to buy the album before, watch the video — it’s ok, I watched it three times too — and then tell me you still don’t want to buy it. Race you to Von’s!
