Yesterday the 500 millionth song was downloaded from the iTunes Music Store. While that in itself is cool, check out who won:
“Apple® today announced that music fans have purchased and downloaded more than half a billion songs from the iTunes® Music Store. The 500 millionth song, Faith Hill’s “Mississippi Girl,” was purchased yesterday by Amy Greer from Lafayette, Indiana, and as the grand prize winner she will receive 10 iPods to share with family and friends, an iTunes gift card for 10,000 songs and an all-expenses paid trip for four to see Coldplay on their world tour.”
We have to find her. By our account, she’s a celebrity! She’s not in the phone book or in the Purdue directory, so my question to the world is: Amy Greer, where are you? We don’t want iPods or a Coldplay ticket; we just want to meet you.
(I think a complimentary membership in PUMUG would be in order too.)
Update: Well, that was easy.
I know her.
I’m actually talking to her on the phone right now — she’s a friend of mine. Also, she doesn’t go to Purdue at all, though she lives in Lafayette.
