This summer marks the third consecutive one living at Purdue. Two years ago I lived with Adam, my Wiley roommate for 3.5 years (NW189 woo!), in the most dilapidated apartment PRF offered offers (well, considering it’s PRF, maybe not). Last year I was a Conference Assistant at Owen/Cary/Wiley/Tark, which didn’t pay much, and entertained less. This year I’m the summer Staff Resident at
MacZealots.com had a redesign, of which about 0.05% is mine. It was a clusterfuck of timing and putting things off and assuming, which led to everyone pissed at me, me pissed at myself, and some very strained friendships. I’m working my way back in, though; I updated the WordPress/Drupal/Textpattern tutorials for Tiger last week, and have a review of the beat sequencer Doggiebox that will show up Friday. Much of this summer will be focusing on 10.4 Server, as I have had a ton of email asking for it, and wanted a solid topic to write for some time on. What I plan to write about and what is written about may change a lot, but at least I’m writing.
Speaking of MacZealots, I want to go to Boston this July for Macworld Boston, the redheaded stepchild of the big Macworld San Francisio in January. Justin said that he’s not going because no one goes. Self-fulfilling prophecy? I’m sure that’s the sentiment from a lot of people, but 1) it won’t be deserted by any means, and 2) there’s no lines for the free stuff! I only get one weeklong break this summer though, and I plan to spend it on the road seeing Emily/Chris/Sharon/Janet and eating at Rudy’s/Hungry Hobo/Whitey’s. (It excites me to no end that these places all have an online presence.) This trip will cover Detroit, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester, Chicago, Moline, Milan and anywhere else I stop. Additional suggestions for stops/eateries/etc. would be awesome.
I’ll write again, I promise.
