films to see

One of the best things about this winter break is that, now that I’m in Columbus, I get to visit Columbus’ new Yes Cinema. (Site’s not up yet, but should be soon). The theater’s focus is classic, independent, B-type movies. Last week’s grand opening showed White Christmas and The Motorcycle Diaries, which I saw. I really enjoyed it - it’s a film made from the diaries of Che Guevara as he and his buddy decide to ride a motorcyle from their home in Argentina to Venezuela, and the adventures along the way. If you have a chance see, this one. (The soundtrack, available at the iTMS, is also excellent.)

This week, I got to see the newly released Primer, which is a short (78 min.) sci-fi trip through regular guys who accidentally create time travel, and the resulting repercussions. If you like Pi, this is that kind of movie, and I want to go see it again. The 2nd half moves so fast that it’s impossible to keep up - just remember Aaron has brown hair, and Abe blonde. The film’s web site has a trailer and more info on the movie. (If anyone will be in Columbus through next week [*cough* Eric *cough*] then I would really like to go see it again.)
